Emily and Jacob’s Newport Beach House, RI wedding was built around a simple goal: an elegant ceremony followed by an exceptionally fun party. They wanted the day to feel like them, with great style, their favorite people close by, and enough room for the unexpected moments that make a wedding memorable.

Before the ceremony, that meant stepping away from the usual formal rhythm of a wedding day for lobster rolls, drinks, and portraits at Flo’s Clam Shack. By the end of the night, Jacob was back on the dance floor in a Knicks jersey with the room shouting him on. Between those two scenes was an emotional first look, an oceanfront ceremony, and a sunset that gave us a few quiet minutes by the water.

Starting the day in Newport

Emily and Jacob came in from New York City, but Newport already meant something to them. They loved its seaside charm and the fact that a wedding weekend here can include more than a hotel room, a ceremony, and a reception. There are places to wander, good food to seek out, and time to make the weekend feel personal.

The morning started at Emily’s Newport Airbnb, where she and her friends opened champagne on the roof. Emily had also asked for a few editorial-style portraits with sunglasses, champagne, and her closest friends. It was a relaxed way to begin a day that would become anything but quiet later on.

A quiet first look before the party began

Emily and Jacob chose a natural first look at Newport Beach House, close to where they would later exchange vows. Jacob was emotional when he saw Emily, and it was one of those pauses that gave the day some room to breathe before the celebration picked up.

He teared up again as Emily walked down the aisle later that afternoon. Those two moments were a nice counterpoint to the energy they brought everywhere else: genuine, unforced, and completely theirs.

Lobster rolls and portraits at Flo’s Clam Shack

One of my favorite parts of this Newport Beach House, RI wedding happened before the ceremony. Emily and Jacob wanted to make a stop at Flo’s Clam Shack for seafood, drinks, and a few playful portraits. They specifically wanted it to feel a little chic and a little ridiculous, with lobster rolls, silly props, and time at the bar.

It worked because it was not trying to be a traditional wedding-day activity. They got to sit down, enjoy a regular Newport moment together, and have fun with it. That change of pace made the rest of the day feel less like a sequence of obligations and more like a celebration they were actually living.

An oceanfront ceremony at Newport Beach House

Their ceremony took place outside at Newport Beach House, with the water nearby and their friends and family gathered around them. The setting carried the elegance Emily and Jacob wanted, while the rest of the day kept its own personality.

Emily’s bridesmaids wore dark green, while the floral palette brought in white, yellow, and green with small touches of blue. It was a clean, fresh look that sat naturally against the coast without competing with it.

Sunset portraits by the water

Emily and Jacob made time for a few portraits after the ceremony and cocktail hour, stepping away from their guests for only a few minutes to use the beach and late-day light. They had told me they loved sunsets, and it was worth building a small window into the timeline for it.

The portraits gave the day a quieter ending before the reception really took off. Just enough time to be together, take in what had happened, and then head back inside.

A fashion-forward day with a Knicks finish

Fashion mattered to both of them. Emily wore an incredible dress, while Jacob leaned into the details of his tux, from the lining and cufflinks to the studs and shoes. He later changed into a second tux jacket with matching Knicks Nike Dunks Low.

Then came the reception change everyone was waiting for. Jacob returned to the dance floor in a Knicks jersey, and the room erupted. It was the perfect summary of the day: polished when it needed to be, never too serious, and fully committed to having a great time.

With Sounds Buono keeping the energy moving, Emily and Jacob’s reception became exactly what they had hoped for: a packed dance floor and a party their guests could fully join.

For couples planning a full weekend in the area, a Newport sunset sail is another great way to make time with your people feel more intentional.

If you are planning a Newport wedding that feels stylish, personal, and genuinely fun, I would love to hear what you have in mind.
